Rules of the Bullruns

If you plan to run with the bulls in Pamplona, read these guidelines in advance of your run:
  • You do not need a ticket or reservation to run with the bulls.
  • You must be at least 18 years of age.
  • You must wear closed-toe shoes and clothing suitable for running.
  • You must run sober. You cannot run under the influence of any drugs.
  • Do not carry anything which may impede your run, such as a camera or backpack.
  • Do not take any pictures or videos on the run.
  • Do not block or stand in any doorways or along any barriers/barricades.
  • Do not put yourself between the first and second lines of barricades which are reserved for police and medical personnel.
  • Do not stop running in a way that blocks or impedes the movement of other runners.
  • Do not touch, harass or mistreat the bulls in any way.
  • Do not run behind the bulls or in the opposite direction of the bull run route.
  • Entrance to the bull run course is in the area between the Plaza Consistorial (Town Hall) and the Santo Domingo rise. Access to the entrance is closed at about 7:15am. If you are serious about running with the bulls, be prompt!
  • Running with the bulls in Pamplona involves high risk and is extremely dangerous and sometimes fatal. You must have good, fast reflexes and be physically fit.
  • While running with the bulls: If you go down, stay down! If you fall down during the bull run or get trampled by a bull or two, stay down and cover your head, until someone taps you on the shoulder and tells you that it is safe to get up.
